Product Description

Introducing the WDF Golf Course Bunker Lining, an exceptional three-dimensional mat designed to revolutionize bunker maintenance on golf courses. Engineered to be laid seamlessly on the steep and intricate slopes of bunkers, this innovative solution effectively tackles the challenge of sand movement. By securely trapping sand on these steep slopes, it ensures the playing surface remains pristine. Additionally, it functions as a robust filtration barrier, curbing the migration of subsoil that could otherwise contaminate the bunker sand and compromise its playability.

Outstanding Features:

  • Unmatched Strength and Durability - Resilient enough to withstand the rigorous raking of bunker sand without tearing.
  • Reduces Sand Contamination - Helps maintain the purity of bunker sand.
  • Prevents Bunker Face Erosion - Minimizes wear and tear on bunker faces.
  • Optimizes Sand Usage - Reduces the amount of sand required.
  • Lowers Maintenance Needs - Significantly cuts down on maintenance efforts.
  • UV Stabilized - Ensures longevity even under prolonged sun exposure.

The importance of sandpit mats for golf courses cannot be overstated; they are crucial for maintaining the integrity of bunkers. However, selecting the right sand can present several challenges.
When choosing sand, several factors must be considered: color, shape, particle size, permeability, and surface cohesion.
1. Color: The sand should contrast sharply with the lawn. Common choices include white sand (typically quartz), yellow sand (mainly river sand with some light yellow quartz), red sand, and black sand. The latter two are less frequently used.
2. Appearance: Smooth sand particles are less cohesive, making the ball more likely to bury upon impact. Conversely, sand with rougher surfaces or diamond-shaped corners provides better resistance, reducing the chances of the ball being buried.
3. Permeability: To prevent water accumulation after rain or irrigation, sand should have a permeability rate exceeding 50cm/hour.
4. Surface Cohesion: Some sands tend to clump together after rain, forming a hard crust that affects ball playability.
5. Particle Size: The ideal sand isn't too fine (which would cause the ball to bury) nor too coarse (which would create a hard surface). A balanced particle size is crucial for optimal playability.
6. Stability: The structural stability of sand is vital. Sand derived from limestone or carbonate is unstable and prone to chemical changes, making it unsuitable for bunkers. It's advisable to have the sand composition identified to ensure low SO2 content.
Many golf courses prefer the particle size of bunker sand to match that of the greens. This is because sand from bunkers often gets blown onto the greens, and having consistent particle sizes helps maintain permeability and mowing quality.
Fine sand in bunkers is easily displaced by external forces, such as slopes and water erosion. To counteract this, many international courses use sandpit mats at the bottom of bunkers. These mats prevent sand movement and significantly reduce the risk of sand clogging drainage systems. In recent years, this practice has been adopted by more courses globally.
